Evaluation Process
Evaluation process
The articles published by Comuni@cción are subjected to a rigorous evaluation process. Reports with empirical contributions that clarify theoretical problems are prioritized, because the journal aims to contribute to improve the explanation of phenomena. Articles should be written in good Spanish, English or Portuguese. Likewise, the APA norms are mandatory in the preparation of the manuscript.
Evaluation according to the style of the Journal
Articles submitted to the journal begin with the review by the editorial board on the elaboration according to the style and format of the Comuni@cción journal. The editorial board does a pre-review to make sure that the articles received fit the thematic scope and interest according to the editorial criteria of the journal and that they meet the formal presentation requirements demanded. Failure of the manuscript to conform to the journal's publication standards means direct rejection. The decision is communicated by the editor to the signatories, allowing them the possibility of adapting and modifying the manuscript to send it back to the editor. In this case, the evaluation process starts again from the beginning. The articles that passed the first filter are applied the plagiarism detector in order to determine their originality (see guidelines for authors).
Peer evaluation
Peer reviewers are invited by the editor and editorial board for their extensive knowledge in the subject and as researchers. Admitted articles are submitted to the evaluation process of anonymous peers, who evaluate considering the international standards and quality criteria for publication. Peer evaluators perform the evaluation in a maximum time of three months, where they justify their report on the possible publication or not of the article based on an evaluation protocol provided by the editor.
Peer reviewers evaluate the article considering the following criteria:
- Quality and soundness of the theoretical framework.
- Methodological adequacy of the work.
- Implications of the results both in academic terms and for the development of social policies.
- Quality of the writing and adequacy of the structure of the article.
- Contribution of new ideas, points of view or innovative topics.
The results of peer review may be as follows:
- Approved for publication with no changes.
- Approved for publication with minor changes.
- Approved for publication with major changes.
- Rejected paper.
- Suggestion for another journal.
The authors will raise the evaluators' observations, if any, accompanied by a letter explaining how they improved it, which will be sent again to the evaluators for their final opinion.
Once the article is approved for publication, the authors must sign the Letter of Authorization for Publication, Assignment and Distribution, a form that will be provided together with the communication of the evaluation results.
